Just the two of us,๐ŸŽต
You and Iย ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽถ
After the Israeli jumped ship, Martin and I have been crewing alone. The last two weeks we had a full house, turning the boat in 8 hours after week 1 for the change of ownerโ€™s guests. Dietary requirements for the second week was demanding with one gluten intolerance, one dairy-free, another pretending to be lactose intolerant, one that โ€œhatesโ€cheese, one that only eats minced beef and another extremely allergic to nuts. The 16 year old girl arrived sick and after the first week her illness worsened to an extremity with blisters in her mouth and lips. She required special meals like soup and mashed potatoes in between meal times.ย
With this group we are constantly on the move, planning the following stop while still under way to the next, with a strict timetable. We stop, they swim, they eat, we go.ย
Music on the yacht can be split into three different devisions: on the fly bridge, the cockpit & salon and the bow, everyone playing their own music as load as possible, with me stuck in the middle hearing all 3.ย ย
Over the last 5 months we have built a trusting relationship with all the owners and their families. My motherly caring side has landed me yet another role: family psychologistย ๐Ÿ™ƒย and many of my hours are spent giving an ear and a wise word.
The entire season weโ€™ve been sailing South, visiting the Islands Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Ithaki and Kastos, exploring as many bays as possible. Ever changing winds is the main factor in determining our route and overnight anchorage. Many times we choose to dock at marinas with calmer waters, where the beauty of the charming towns provides a true experience of the Greek culture.
This last week we went North, exploring uncharted territory, visiting the islands Paxos, Antipaxos, Corfu and the town Parga on the mainland. The season is heating up and cruising grounds are very busy. Bays are full and finding a spot with a big yacht like this is a challenge!
Yesterday after breakfast we said goodbye and took the rest of the day off. Today we are yet again preparing for the next 2 week charter starting Sunday morning. The show must go onย ๐Ÿ™ƒ
So far this has been quite a challenging season, but we are together and we are strong, enjoying the journey and growing immensely as a couple and as individuals.ย
These waters and surroundings are magnificent. Being involved with the โ€œrichโ€, learning about their mindsets and beliefs, gives us a broader understanding of the big world we live in.ย
We are truly blessed!
