We did it! 7 weeks non stop chartering, the last 5 weeks with crew of 2 and we made it!
The 2nd last was busy. We raced to Zakynthos to spend the week and celebrate a 50th birthday, with family members coming and going. Jealousy had the tendency of crawling up my spine, as I witnessed the pure joy of three generations joined on a journey of discovering the beauty the island has to offer and celebrating the joy of living. The week ended waking up to stormy weather, keeping us stranded at Zakynthos town for a few hours with a tornado hitting the area. We patiently sat on anchor in the washing machine with winds up to 30 knots and finally after a few hours we head North to the famous Blue Caves before turning to Kafelonia where we spend the night in the safe harbour of the charming town Poros.
After a week of intense focus we were rewarded with an incredible relaxed final week and even had time for some fun. An exhilarating tube ride with one of the kids, diving off the side of the boat and even doing some back flips from the stern. A welcome end to an exhausting marathon!
Today we relaxed on the fly bridge like bosses, while contractors did their part on maintenance.
Tomorrow we prepare once again, but this time for our first sail completely alone on 7th Heaven! With sunrise Thursday, we’ll be waving goodbye to Preveza, our home for the last 5 months and sailing, just the two of us, to Athens, over a course of two days.
Excitement is an understatement!
